Research Question(s)

We began our research developing our main and sub research questions. As we moved through curriculum, readings, films, podcasts, lectures and meetings with each other, we returned to these questions. While there is no place where each question is directly answered, our reflections and thoughts are in our blog posts, curriculum, and creative products. We invite you to read posts, try activities, and allow yourself to draw conclusions based on your own embodied experiences.

Main Research Question

How can dance-based embodied experiences enhance our acuity and awareness of the environment, and develop response-ability?  What is the role of digital technologies∗ in this research?

sub-questions
  • What are environmental issues?
  • Is this a political act? // What is a political act? // How is this a political act?
  • Is there something that ‘dance-based’ provides that contributes a specific dimension to an experience?
  • How does building a relationship with the environment via dance-based experiences create a caring-for the environment?
  • What kind of pedagogy for this work creates enough space for multiple points-of-view to arrive and leave having come to their own conclusions?

∗ Finding that environmental arguments don’t often include technology, we were interested in exploring specifically how technology and digital tools can be a part of an environmental conversation. How can technology help us feel connected to, rather than distant from, our place? Navigate to the Digital Bridges tab to read more about how technology has been a part of our research.
